Jim was selected as a National Research Council post-doctoral fellow and then as a NATO post-doctoral fellow before obtaining a permanent research position at the Museum. At the museum he has set-up a high pressure laboratory and has been very successful in obtaining NSF funding. He is internationallyknown for his work on fluorine and chlorine in magmatic systems.
